aliens...

...duchess believed firmly in alien-life. She had seen enough in her lifetime, to know that there were other life-forms than those which met the eye. She knew marmaduke had seen them too, from the way he suddenly stiffened, grew to several times his normal size, his tail bushy beyond belief, as he stared at something beyond the reach of normal vision...

..."ooo...i'm an alien, i'm a legal alien, i'm an alien in nooo yoik...warbled marmaduke, as he tried to outstare the strange creatures staring back at him...

...duchess loved to bathe "au natural". She had discovered, on one of her many travels, from north america down to brazil, the perfect bath, a waterfall shaped like a huge round basin. Another favourite bathing spot, was boulders beach at simonstown in the cape. Unfortunately, the antarctic penguins had also discovered the beauty of boulders, and completely overtaken the beach. One day, a few penguins had arrived out of the blue, taken one look, swum back out to sea, only to return again, with 1000's of other little black and white creatures, with red eyes, like themselves. So, she had found some other boulders to bolter in, amongst the isles of taiwan, where bathing at sunrise was a breathtaking experience, beautiful beyond belief. Whenever she travelled through the green rolling hills and dales of england, she would long to run, on and on, until breathless, she could fling herself onto the ground, and look up and marvel at the vast endless blueness of the sky. Then, along the windswept coastline of yorkshire to the sea at southwold, she would marvel at the equally vast endless blueness of the sea. Finally, following the wind eastwards, she arrived at a windmill park, where man's struggle to tame the elements, by catching the wind, had resulted in the ability to power entire cities, which never ceased to amaze her...

...whenever duchess had a moment, she would escape to sit on a bench overlooking the sea, and gazing outwards, her thoughts would turn inwards, as she contemplated on other times and climes. She was sitting on another bench overlooking another sea, this time an american beach. Suddenly she was back at school, or rather university, and sitting in the church of princeton university, with it's high vaulted ceilings, beautiful stained glass window and colourful college flags. Then she was walking the streets, alongside the gracefully green sony building. Then again, roaming the desert, looking for cacti, desert roses, succulents and the joshua trees, which immediately had her thinking of dylan. Also roaming around, was the cougar, with it's magnificently sculptured head, gentle colours and hypnotic gaze. Now she was flying, first with the seagulls in san fran, sweeping and swooping up, under and over the red goldengate bridge. Then she was soaring with eagles, high, high in the sky. Next, she was back at the lighthouse, only this time, it was in michigan. Now it was night, and she was in the air again, with the full moon gazing down upon her and cape cod, then desert moonscapes and the grand canyon. Finally, she landed at yosemite, with it's mighty grey stone-faced cragged cliffs...
